This is the real deal - Japanese ceremonial (drinking grade) matcha. It's a beautiful vibrant green color, rich in umami and nice and creamy. There is just a hint of natural astringency to round out the flavor profile. It's one of the more well rounded matcha powders I have tried and is a very good value for this flavor profile. It blends up easy and is very fresh, free of clumps.

I like that this is a true direct from Japan matcha. It's the real deal, and the quality and taste live up to the ceremonial grade label.

This matcha is the perfect daily matcha powder! The flavor stands up to milk wonderfully (i use planet oat unsweetened for my matcha lattes) and it makes a STUNNING bright green koicha and foams up beautifully (i forgot to take a photo of the microfoam on the usucha but you can see the foam in the video!) When compared to Jade Leafs culinary matcha color wise (jade leaf is the one in the tin) it's a MUCH brighter green and even brighter green in person. The taste of Satoen matcha is somewhat nutty, balanced, smooth and I'd say it's medium in terms of body but nothing too complex for the beginner matcha drinker. It leaves a lingering taste in your mouth and isn't astringent or bitter at all. Give this matcha a try if you're looking for an affordable daily matcha for your lattes!

This is really high quality and yummy ceremonial matcha with a pleasant nutty taste and just a hint of bitter notes. The color is vivid bright green and it froths up beautifully. The price when I bought it was very good but I see it's gone up quite a bit. Still I appreciate that you get 50 grams rather than 30 or 40.
I recently did a taste test comparing this to Hayashiya Daichi and Ippodo Ummon. This was the lowest price by far and the brightest green and most flavorful!
The one thing I wish is that it came in a tin for better preservation. It comes in a very thin cardboard box with a plastic pouch inside and both times I ordered it, the product box was crushed, making it unsuitable for gifting.

I am familiar with this brand, which is a well-established Japanese manufacturer. I have drank different brands of matcha, including ceremonial grade matcha. I like this in 2 ways; as it is or as latte.
No bitter taste. Vibrant green color. Make great matcha or matcha latte!
