Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 2 ounces hot water (about 175°F or 80°C)
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1-2 teaspoons sweetener (such as honey, sugar, or maple syrup) – optional
Instructions:
- Prepare the Matcha: In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder to avoid clumps.
- Add Hot Water: Pour hot water over the matcha powder. Whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a milk frother until the matcha is fully dissolved and a frothy layer forms on top.
- Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is steaming but not boiling. If you prefer an iced matcha latte, skip this step.
- Froth the Milk: If you want a frothy texture, use a milk frother to froth the milk until it is light and creamy.
- Combine: Pour the prepared matcha into a large cup or glass. Add the hot milk (or cold milk over ice for an iced latte) to the matcha.
- Sweeten (Optional): If desired, stir in your chosen sweetener to taste.
- Serve: Enjoy your delicious Matcha Latte
Tips:
- For an extra creamy texture, consider using oat milk or almond milk.
- Adjust the amount of matcha based on your preference for a stronger or milder flavor.
