Timeless Craftsmanship: Handcrafted Mino-yaki White Crackle Chawan

Step into the serene world of traditional Japanese tea ceremony with this authentic handcrafted Mino-yaki Chawan. Originating from the historic Mino kiln region in Gifu Prefecture—renowned since the Momoyama period for producing the tea ware of legendary masters—this tea bowl arrives complete with its original artisan-inscribed wooden collector’s box (Tomobako).

The Story & Wabi-Sabi Aesthetics

  • Luminous Snow-White Crackle Glaze (Kannyu): Coated in a soft, milk-white feldspathic glaze that reveals an intricate network of fine hairline crackles and natural iron specks beneath the surface. Over years of ceremonial use, matcha tea liquor will naturally seep into these tiny fissures, developing a rich, personalized patina (keshiki) highly prized by tea masters.

  • Classic Tsutsu-gata (Cylindrical) Silhouette: The upright, gently cradling walls are traditionally favored for cooler seasons (autumn and winter) to retain optimal warmth and concentrate the lush aroma of freshly whisked matcha.

  • The Perfect Canvas for Vibrant Matcha: The pale, neutral ivory-white interior forms an exquisite backdrop, accentuating the vivid emerald-jade foam and velvety texture of premium ceremonial matcha.

  • Artisan-Signed Collector's Box: Accompanied by its authentic Japanese cedar storage box (Tomobako), inscribed with calligraphic brushwork affirming its genuine Mino origin and handcrafted prestige.

Ways to Use

Discover different methods to prepare and enjoy your matcha, from traditional ceremonies to modern variations.

Usucha Matcha: A popular, smooth, and frothy brew. This thin preparation highlights matcha's fresh flavor, perfect for daily enjoyment or informal tea ceremonies.

1

Warm up your tea bowl (Chawan) and whisk (Chasen)

Warming your matcha bowl and whisk (chasen) for 3 mins will help keep the bowl warm to maintain the ideal water temperature of 70-80°C during preparation, and it will also soften the whisk for better frothing.

2

Sift Matcha

Sift 1.5 - 2g of matcha directly into your warmed bowl for a perfectly smooth, airy powder.
