Quiet Elegance & Timeless Patina: Handcrafted Japanese Hagi Chawan for Ceremonial Matcha

Awaken your senses and invite profound tranquility into your tea sanctuary with this authentic handcrafted Hagi-yaki style Chawan. Celebrated for centuries by Japanese tea masters as one of the three most revered tea ware traditions ("First Raku, Second Hagi, Third Karatsu"), this tea bowl embodies the purest soul of Wabi-sabi—where organic imperfection, tactile warmth, and natural earth tones converge.

Expertly formed for preparing and savoring Ceremonial Matcha, its comforting texture and luminous snowy well transform every morning whisk into a grounded ritual of mindfulness.

Artisanal Craftsmanship & Aesthetics

  • The Living Patina of Hagi (Hagi no Nanabake): Finished in a soft, semi-opaque milky feldspathic glaze over coarse, mineral-rich clay. The subtle fine-crackle network (Kannyu) and natural iron freckles naturally absorb tea tannins over years of use, developing a cherished, personalized antique patina unique to your journey with tea.

  • Vivid Contrast for Ceremonial Matcha: The gentle ivory-cream interior provides an exquisite neutral stage, making the rich, vibrant emerald-green foam of freshly whisked ceremonial matcha glow with unmatched brilliance.

  • Organic Sculpted Form (Han-Tsutsu): Gentle hand-thrown ridge lines encircle the body, giving both hands a secure, deeply comforting hold. The thick earthenware body holds heat evenly, warming your palms while you savor each sip.

  • Whisk-Friendly Base: Features smooth, rounded lower contours and a balanced bottom, providing your bamboo whisk (Chasen) the ideal clearance to generate thick, silky micro-foam effortlessly.

  • Earthy Foot Ring (Kodai): The unglazed base showcases the authentic raw texture of Japanese stoneware, grounding the bowl with ancestral character.

Ways to Use

Discover different methods to prepare and enjoy your matcha, from traditional ceremonies to modern variations.

Usucha Matcha: A popular, smooth, and frothy brew. This thin preparation highlights matcha's fresh flavor, perfect for daily enjoyment or informal tea ceremonies.

1

Warm up your tea bowl (Chawan) and whisk (Chasen)

Warming your matcha bowl and whisk (chasen) for 3 mins will help keep the bowl warm to maintain the ideal water temperature of 70-80°C during preparation, and it will also soften the whisk for better frothing.
