Embrace Flawless Imperfection: Handcrafted Japanese Kintsugi Ocean Wave Chawan for Ceremonial Matcha

Discover the profound beauty of Wabi-sabi and timeless Japanese artistry with this authentic handcrafted Kintsugi Matcha Chawan. Originating from the cultural heart of Kyoto (Kyo-yaki tradition), this one-of-a-kind tea vessel features poetic hand-painted rolling ocean waves accented with real gold lines and crowned by an authentic gold-repaired seam (Kintsugi).

Designed for preparing and honoring your daily bowl of Ceremonial Matcha, this bowl transforms every whisking ritual into a mindful celebration of resilience, heritage, and serene beauty.

Artisanal Craftsmanship & Aesthetics

  • Authentic Kintsugi Gold Seam: Masterfully repaired using the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi (golden joinery), turning a natural fissure on the rim into the bowl's most captivating artistic feature.

  • Majestic Golden Waves (Nami Motifs): Deep indigo-blue tidal swells crash across an earthy celadon-grey body, highlighted with fine gold brushwork in the classical Kyoto court aesthetic (Rimpa school).

  • Dynamic Swirling Interior: The inside features a sweeping, spiral flash of unglazed terracotta brushwork (Hidasuki-like effect) against a smooth grey well. When filled with vibrant green ceremonial matcha, the contrast between earth tones, gold, and jade foam is breathtaking.

  • Generous Whisking Arc (Wan-nari): Broad, gently sloped sidewalls give your bamboo whisk (Chasen) ample clearance to whip up a rich, silky layer of ceremonial matcha micro-foam without spilling.

  • Comfortable Grip: Balanced weight and a comfortable base ring (Kodai) allow both hands to cradle the bowl securely, absorbing soothing thermal warmth as you sip.

Ways to Use

Discover different methods to prepare and enjoy your matcha, from traditional ceremonies to modern variations.

Usucha Matcha: A popular, smooth, and frothy brew. This thin preparation highlights matcha's fresh flavor, perfect for daily enjoyment or informal tea ceremonies.

1

Warm up your tea bowl (Chawan) and whisk (Chasen)

Warming your matcha bowl and whisk (chasen) for 3 mins will help keep the bowl warm to maintain the ideal water temperature of 70-80°C during preparation, and it will also soften the whisk for better frothing.
