Earthy Warmth & Classical Poise: Handcrafted Japanese Artisan Chawan for Ceremonial Matcha

Elevate your daily tea sanctuary with this authentic handcrafted Japanese Chawan. Finished in a deeply textured rust-iron glaze and protected by an exquisite padded silk drawstring pouch (Shifuku) inside its signed wooden collector’s box (Tomobako), this tea bowl represents the earthy soul of classical Wabi-sabi pottery.

Crafted specifically for preparing and enjoying Ceremonial Matcha, its broad open silhouette and grounding mineral weight invite stillness and mindfulness into every whisk.

Artisanal Craftsmanship & Aesthetics

  • Broad Open Form (Hira-Chawan Silhouette): Features gently flaring, shallow sidewalls that allow steam and heat to dissipate pleasantly. The wide interior base provides generous space for your bamboo whisk (Chasen) to move with fluid ease, whipping up a dense, creamy micro-foam effortlessly.

  • Rich Iron & Natural Ash Glaze (Tetsu-yu): Fired in high-heat wood-burning kilns, the exterior boasts a rustic, tactile texture of scorched earth, iron rust, and mossy undertones. Inside, a smooth, glossy dark-amber well creates a striking, luminous contrast that highlights the rich jade-green color of premium ceremonial matcha.

  • Dedicated Tea Well (Chadamari): The center of the bowl features a traditional indentation designed to pool the final, concentrated drops of tea for a contemplative finish to your ritual.

  • Artisan Seal of Authenticity: Stamped with the maker's kiln seal near the unglazed, earthy foot (Kodai), confirming its artisanal heritage.

Museum-Grade Collector’s Presentation

  • Custom Silk Pouch (Shifuku): Includes a bespoke padded plum-colored silk pouch with hand-braided cords, a treatment traditionally reserved for esteemed antique tea vessels.

  • Solid Wooden Box (Tomobako): Crafted from fine Japanese cedar, tied with traditional woven Sanada-himo ribbon.

Ways to Use

Discover different methods to prepare and enjoy your matcha, from traditional ceremonies to modern variations.

Usucha Matcha: A popular, smooth, and frothy brew. This thin preparation highlights matcha's fresh flavor, perfect for daily enjoyment or informal tea ceremonies.

1

Warm up your tea bowl (Chawan) and whisk (Chasen)

Warming your matcha bowl and whisk (chasen) for 3 mins will help keep the bowl warm to maintain the ideal water temperature of 70-80°C during preparation, and it will also soften the whisk for better frothing.
